SRIJAN is a non- profit civil society organization committed to promote sustainable and self-reliant development of the poor. Registered as a public charitable trust in Jan 2000. SRIJAN has been working since 1997 for the creating livelihood security for poor.
SRIJAN is a group of over 60 professionals, trained in various technical, management, and social service disciplines, most of who work directly with rural poor. Covering resource poor regions of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, with with continued institutional support from the state Government and donor agencies such as deshpande foundation.
ROLES: livelihood promotion is a complex business interplay of forces nature, human skills, enterprise, credit availability and markets. Often the small farmers aren’t  ready to adopt new practices. Hence we assist rural poor in technology adaptation, transfer new skills to them, from and strengthen their organizations, build linkages with market, banka and knowledge institutions.
Our field teams have persisted with and deepended their efforts to establish livelihood clusters that could become sustainable business. Since 2007 in north west Karnataka SEIJAN is working on enhancement of paddy productivity through SRI for small and marginal farmers with the support of deshpabde foundation. In hangal taluka of haveri & mundgod  taluka of uttara kannada districts, where most small and marginal farmers rely on paddy as their livelihood &main resource income. In 2008-09, SRI has  reached to 158 farmers. In 2009 kharif, 184 farmers has adopted the technology and more than 250farmers have expressed their willingness to adopt in current summer with increased area under SRI method.
ABOUT S R I : ( system of rice intensification ) since SRI method of paddy cultivation is an idea proving to be the way to deal with the problem of erratic monsoon, it has become boon for small and marginal farmers in rice growing areas who face extreme crop loss due to low rainfall, pest and disease menace.

These garments are much sought after by the young and the old, men and women. Desi retail stores have a combined annual turnover of about 60million.

       How was charaka formed:
For that, we have to go more then fifteen years back, to 1994. It was then that a trust named kavi kavya was formed. As its name suggestes, it was a literary andcultural organization active in the village. A group of educated people ran it. It was they who started charaka.

Kavi kavya organized a training programme for the works of anganawadi in the village of shimoga distric, in the use of locally available ciltural resourcethe progrea went on for a whole year. During that time, kavi kavya activists traveled extensively through rural area of the district.

       Why was charaka formed?
In September 1996, kavi kavya trust handed over the entire infrastructure thus developed, to the women works and charaka society was registered. The trust told the women works that as long as they produced quality stuff, the trust would market it and take the responsibility of clearing the bills within a fortnight of the delivery of the product.
      Objective of charaka:

In charaka main objective reduce the migration. Help to rural women’s.

In charaka give facilities to workers. But we are growing at a phenomenal rate of 25percent year. Our workers, who are their own paymasters, draw a decent living wage. They give themselves a small bonus every year, eat subsidized food, have health insurance and take home loans.
